Events

First Saturday Art Walk July 1, 5-7 p.m.

  • In July Artworks Gallery features Jim Short, a woodturner from Coupeville who chooses to let the wood speak its own poetry through the bowls he creates. Artworks welcomes two new artists to the gallery: Teri Jo Summer and her elegant and unique wearable art, and award-winning pen and ink artist Kelly Liedtke  Artworks Gallery is in the courtyard off 2nd Street – behind Sweet Mona’s Chocolates, next to Ultra House – at 221-2nd Street, Langley. Open daily, except Tuesday, 11-5 and 11-7 on the first Saturday of each month.
  • Museo welcomes Christian Carlson and, in her first gallery show, Christie Scheele. Christian is a painter from Skagit Valley and the co-owner of Perry & Carlson Gallery in Mt. Vernon, which is also one of our favorite galleries. Christie lives and works in upstate New York and is an artist that we had followed for years before we happened to meet her, by chance, on our travels. We were amazed how her landscapes felt very local even though they are miles away.
After a successful 2022 Seattle Art Fair, Museo is thrilled to announce their participation in the upcoming 2023 event. Seattle Art Fair, a one-of-a-kind showcase for the vibrant arts community of the Pacific Northwest, and a leading destination for the best in modern and contemporary art from internationally noted galleries, returns to the Lumen Field Event Center for its seventh edition, July 27-30, 2023. Museo will be featuring a selection of works from their talented artists, representing Whidbey Island with contemporary paintings and sculptures.  Learn more and get tickets at seattleartfair.com.
  • Rob Schouten Gallery presents Opalescent Light, new paintings by Teresa Saia July 1 – 31. Known for her bright palette and fluid direct style, Saia’s landscapes bathe in an abundance of vibrant light and expressive use of radiant color. View the Exhibition: https://www.robschoutengallery.com/teresasaiaRob Schouten Gallery, 101 Anthes Avenue, Langley at the corner of First and Anthes. July Gallery Hours: Weekends 10 – 5; Weekdays 11 – 5.
  • Whidbey Art Gallery features member artists Stuart King and Woody Morris and guest artist Phyllis Ray in July. The latest chapter in Stuart King’s artistic evolution is his Rip Curl series of paintings. With these, he’s forged a bond between his 3D design aesthetic and iconic wave paintings to create unique, multidimensional pieces. Woody Morris will surprise us with glass sculptures. He has a passion for design, and he now creates one of a kind pendants and fused glass wall art as well. Phyllis Ray will be showing a combination of oil paintings and fine art reproductions of watercolor sketches.

The band is comprised of Goosefoot’s own Fredde Butterworth on drums, Dave Draper and Tom Hoeflich on guitar, Marc Strader on bass, with special guests David Licastro on guitar and Danny Ward on sax.

August 24 – Western Heroes have been providing original dance music to the Whidbey Island community for 14 years.
