Walk on Passengers and Parking at the Clinton or Mukilteo Ferry
If you plan to park your vehicle and walk onto the ferry, there are options on both the Clinton and Mukilteo sides. The Port of Everett manages the temporary parking lot at the Mukilteo waterfront, located at 707 Front Street. The 99-stall lot on the former ferry holding lanes includes 63 spots to leave a car for up to 72 hours at Pay to Park Walk-up stations. On the Clinton side there’s pay parking available at a lot located at 64 South Ferrydock Road, Clinton, WA 98236.

A Park-n-Ride lot is located approximately 0.5 miles north of the Clinton ferry terminal. Parking is free at this lot and the Island Transit shuttle provides free service from the lot to the terminal.

There is another paid parking lot located behind Simmon’s Garage at 6491 Humphrey Rd, Clinton, WA 98236. Located immediately above the Clinton Ferry Terminal, there’s 109 permit slots and 100 daily slots, the lot provides a convenient and low-cost parking location to commuters who choose to walk on the ferry. Park at a numbered spot and pay at the pay station. Or, there’s a bus stop at Simmon’s Garage that will take you to the terminal.

For the Humphrey Road parking lot, daily parking rates are $2 for the first four hours, $3 for 4-8 hours, $4 for 8-12 hours, and $5 for 12-24 hours. Parking for more than 24 hours is $5 per day. Parking permits are $125 per quarter (Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep, Oct-Dec). Parking Permit Application

Walking on either ferry via public transportation takes you directly to the ferry terminals. Purchase tickets inside the terminals. There is a charge to travel to Whidbey Island, but the return price for walk-on passengers is free. Children 18 and under are free.

Mukilteo–Clinton Route

Daily service begins shortly after 5 am and runs until 1 am. Typically, two boats serve the route, except very early in the day or very late and on days when there’s a crew shortage. Boats can accommodate everything up to large semi-trucks. Depending upon the boat, it can carry between 120 and 140 vehicles. Follow S.R. 525 into Mukilteo and to the entrance to the ferry terminal. There is a lane on the right-hand side that is used when the ferry holding area is filled. Always join the ferry line after the last car; do not cut in line. Fridays, especially going into three-day weekends, are particularly prone to backing up. When you get to the ticket booth, you can pay via cash or credit card. The ferry ride is approximately 20 minutes. Walk-on passengers use an overhead loading deck on the Mukilteo side. Buy your tickets in the terminal. There is a charge to travel to Whidbey Island, but the return price for walk-on passengers is free. Children 18 and under are free.

Coupeville – Port Townsend Route

This terminal is next to Fort Casey State Park near Coupeville on Whidbey Island. Typically, one boat sails this route, so departures are approximately every 90 minutes. Sailings are often canceled due to tide conditions and notices are sent out as advisories. Reservations are required a couple of days in advance for cars. This sailing does sell out.
