Cycling

The rural areas of Langley and much of the rest of Whidbey Island create ideal cycling conditions. SR 525 and Highway 20 are both official Scenic Byways, theyโ€™re cycle-friendly, though more pleasure may be found in the smaller roads that take you through the rural areas. You can enjoy stunning views of Puget Sound and the local mountain ranges, as well as spot wildlife not visible from the main roads.ย

A popular bike loop is the 25-mile scenic route that takes you from Langley, out Maxwelton Road to the beach, back through the farmlands along Ewing Road, and finally through Bayview back into Langley. For mountain and trail biking, try the Putney and Saratoga Woods, just outside of Langley. If youโ€™re in downtown Langley and need bike tools, be sure to hoist your two wheels on the FixIt Bicycle Repair Station at the corner of Second and Anthes Streets.ย With free transit buses Monday-Saturday (Island Transit), Whidbey is a bikersโ€™ haven. Also, Sound Transit and Port of Seattle SeaTac Airport detail everything you need to know about bringing your bike on public transportation from SeaTac airport.
