To commemorate the love Langley has for these ocean friends, both Coupeville and Langley installed a “Whale Bell.” These bells have a simple instruction: “See a whale, ring the bell.” They serve as both a monument to the whale’s impact on the island culture and a creative way to notify others of the whale’s presence so they can also look out and see! So next time you’re at the water’s edge, keep a keen eye on those beautiful blue waves. Located in downtown Langley. The Langley Whale Center has information about Whale Bell Park events and provides everyone with a chance to learn more about the endangered Southern Resident orcas, who visit our area each fall and winter, and about the North Puget Sound Gray Whales. They’re a small, unique population of 10-12 Gray whales who find sustenance in the waters of Saratoga Passage and Possession Sound every March through May. Don’t miss the annual Welcome the Whales parade every April! More information at the Langley Whale Center.Become a member of Orca Network’s Langley Whale Center from anywhere today! Each day that the doors are open, the Volunteer Docents at Langley Whale Center share information and stories about the extraordinary marine mammals of the Salish Sea and their daily struggles for survival. Membership is a wonderful way to support Langley Whale’s Center’s mission to provide free and accessible education and advocacy for all. In addition to supporting their mission, your membership gives you access to benefits.
