Honor Indigenous People Day in Langley
Honor Indigenous People’s Day in Langley Monday, October 13 @ 1:15 p.m.
Langley Park, 2nd and Anthes Streets
Gather with us to lift up all indigenous people. Indigenous Peoples’ Day serves to celebrate the history and culture of Indigenous peoples and to acknowledge the challenges they still face. It is also a day to reflect on the dispossession and violence against Indigenous people.
While not a federal or Washington State holiday, Indigenous Peoples’ Day is proudly observed in many communities, cities and states. Biden’s presidency issued proclamations supporting IPD, but only an act of Congress could change Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
We (NCI) are planning to honor all Indigenous people by gathering in Langley to celebrate and help educate ourselves and the public about the resilience of Indigenous peoples. We will be joined by members of the Snohomish Tribe of Indians.
Join us in the park on the corner of 2nd and Anthes at 1:15 pm on Monday, October 13th. Please bring a gift of a food item for the local food bank, Good Cheer.
