The Blue Peony

The Blue Peony strives to bring art into the kitchen and into everyday lives by creating fabulous aprons and accessories that bring color and pattern into every unexpected spot. We are inspired by our love of travel, colorful dreams, and the unique people you meet everyday. I created our organic line based on the belief that we need to be more responsible for the health and happiness of ourselves, our family, our society and our planet. We strive to make high-quality, organic and natural fiber products accessible to everyone. We believe that taking small steps in your life can lead to exponential returns. The Blue Peony was chosen for the name of the shop because I have fond memories of sewing with my mother and looking out the windows at all of the fabulous peonies. Blue is said to inspire creativity – which is what we’re all about!

My mother gave me my first sewing machine, a vintage singer, when I was 12 years old and I was hooked. Today I am a quirky, stylish, and some-what eclectic thirty-something with a wonderful husband and a 8 year old son. I love Fleetwood Mac, taking a tea break at 3 everyday, finding amateur art to hang on my walls and collecting vintage mismatched plates from thrift stores. I started The Blue Peony about 13 years ago and I have been sewing and creating my dream every day since.

Our retail store is located at 107b First Street in Downtown Langley, WA. Our current winter hours are: Thursday / Friday / Saturday 11-4pm and Closed Sunday and By Chance: Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday. Introducing: Whidbey Wild Beauty

What started out as a way to keep my husband entertained during the early days of Covid has blossomed into a new passion and career path. My husband, Matt, owns a micro-biology lab and has been involved with product development and engineering for decades. When Covid hit and essentially stopped the world, it disrupted his small business (as it did with countless others). So, because he had the time, he started investigating the secret recipes for some of my favorite beauty products. Well, once the research started he found it too fascinating to stop and quickly began finding the highest rated, most expensive lotions and cleansers and researching their formulas. One of the major things we discovered – Most high end beauty products only cost a fraction of their retail price to produce.

And with that the idea for Whidbey Wild Beauty came to life. We’ve cracked the formulas for the very best products on the market and created a new line of luxury skincare products available at a price point that works for a new generation of customers. With the colder weather setting in my skin is thanking me and yours will be too.
