Welcome to Langley!
Getting to Whidbey Island is a magical experience.
Maybe it’s the sun on your face or the wind in your hair…the distant cries of seagulls and eagles overhead, or the briny scent of the Salish sea. Whatever the reason, the ferry to Whidbey does more than take you to another island in the Pacific Northwest; it transports and guides you to a different, more carefree state of mind.
Langley, Washington, known as the Village by the Sea because of its location on Whidbey Island, is a short ferry ride from Mukilteo, just 35 miles north of Seattle. Visitors enjoy breathtaking views of Saratoga Passage and the Cascade mountains. Langley is a destination for those looking to see orcas, bald eagles, gray whales, and plenty of other wildlife. Discover waterfront parks and beaches, forested hiking trails, galleries and restaurants, gift shops, wineries, boutiques, and theater. As a certified Washington State Creative District, Langley Creates is focused on growing the community’s creative economy by supporting and enlarging what already exists in this seaside village. Langley Creates is a trailblazer for sustainable economic development in rural communities.
Langley has its own special character with several annual events. There’s the annual Mystery Weekend, a “whodunit” that involves the whole community, Whidbey Island Fair & Parade, Soup Box Derby, Farmer’s Markets, the Shakespeare Fest in summer, Lighting of Langley with Santa, a music festival called Little Big Fest and another one devoted to the music of Django Rheinhardt called DjangoFest. Monthly events include the first Saturday Art Walk with lively strolls through our many galleries.
Langley has plenty to fill a weekend or more, both in and near this quaint and vibrant seaside community. Escape from ordinary life and stroll the streets of Langley, with more than enough to transport you to a place far from the sounds of the big city.
