“One Family in Gaza” Play

Please join us for a performance of the original play, One Family in Gaza, by Crystal Zevon. This non-fiction drama is based on the friendship between Zevon and a young father in Gaza. The story is told through their correspondence since the fall of 2023, reflecting Zevon’s efforts to help his family intertwined with short news reports that give context to the letters. The main focus is the messages received from Yasser, the young father, which, while telling a story that in some ways reflects universal truths about living through any war, offers insights into this particular conflict. Not unlike The Diary of Anne Frank, the piece is a rare telling of a war experience in real time, calling upon us to never forget our common humanity. The play is updated monthly as the genocide continues.

The performance will be followed by a presentation and discussion.

Tickets are FREE, however, if you would like to make a donation, all proceeds will be sent to families in Gaza. 50% will be sent to Yasser’s family, and 50% will be split up between 3 families in Gaza with direct ties to Whidbey Islanders.

Saturday, November 15th
Doors open at 3pm, play begins at 3:30pm,
play runs for approximately 1 hr and 10 minutes.
