Thursday Night Music at Dancing Fish: Ranger & the “Re-Arrangers”
Thursday, July 2nd ~ 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Join us for an evening of excellent live music, wine and appetizers!
Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers” evoke the spirit of a Paris cafe and the raucous energy of a Romani campsite with their version of Hot Club Swing. At the heart of their sound is Ranger’s sweet violin playing–his sense of melody and daring improvisations. The band’s repertoire includes swing standards, traditional European melodies, and the music of Django Reinhardt. Mandolinist Dave Stewart is also a tremendous vocalist, lending his silky-smooth voice to swing standards!

“Hot Club Swing” is named after the Quintet of the Hot Club of France. In the 1930’s guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli blended their own musical legacies with the new American art form of jazz. Their recordings soon brought international fame to the new genre. Hot Club Swing is characterized by upbeat, high-energy swing on acoustic instruments, especially guitar, violin, bass, clarinet, and accordion.
This event is by reservation only and includes a shared appetizer board served to your table.
Please be aware that due to limited seating capacity in the Dancing Fish Barn, some patrons may be assigned to larger communal tables. Alternatively, if you have friends who are also attending this event, please let us know via text/phone (360-632-4190) or email (info@dancingfishvineyards.com) in advance of the performance so we can seat you at the same table.

DjangoFest Northwest Celebrates 25 Years
Langley, WA – In less than a month, the soulful melodies of Django music will once again fill the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA) with the annual DjangoFest Northwest (DFNW) Festival. Now in its 25th year, this iconic five-day Gypsy Jazz event will bring in artists from around the world to Whidbey in celebration of the music made famous by Django Reinhardt in 1930s France. This year’s festival will take place September 17-21 at the WICA campus in Langley. Along with the Festival Headliner Paulus Schäfer Quartet, which will feature Tim Kliphuis, the festival will include numerous concerts and opportunities for attendees to experience the festival lounge, take in performances by second stage musicians under the white WICA tent, and enjoy the specialty DFNW cocktail, a spiced apple Hot Club Old Fashioned.
“We’re thrilled to welcome returning and new Django artists to WICA for this milestone year,” says WICA Executive Artistic Director Deana Duncan. “For more than two decades, DjangoFest Northwest has brought in artists and supporters to Whidbey to enjoy this wonderful island and to experience firsthand the magic of this iconic and inspiring jazz.
