Rae Isla is an independent singer-songwriter and musician from Bainbridge, Island, WA, now based in Los Angeles. Drawing from her early years playing classical cello, learning piano and guitar as a teenager, and attending Berklee College of Music on a vocal scholarship, Rae weaves together a unique blend of folk, indie rock and alt-country influences to create lush, evocative songs.

She is inspired by John Prine, Linda Rondstadt, Joni Mitchell and Sierra Ferrell – expect to hear at least a few cover songs from these songwriting legends! Known as a “traveling bard,” Rae’s live performances are both intimate and immersive, sharing fantastical storeis from the road and creating a communal experience that breaks down the barrier between artist and audience. A burgeoning American songwriter in her own right, Rae’s ability to blend honest and intimate storytelling with cinematic arrangement will draw you in and keep you there.

Thursday Night Music at Dancing Fish – Open Road

Dancing Fish Vineyards

Open Road is a Whidbey Island band delivering a compelling mix of original songs, rhythmic covers, and timeless folk ballads, all performed with remarkable artistry and depth.  Their sound blends woodwinds and electric guitar into a richly layered musical tapestry, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of influences including folk, blues, rock, and more.

With heartfelt lyrics that speak to today’s audiences, they capture the spirit of the open road and the shared human journey. Whether performing upbeat rhythms or soulful ballads, their music resonates with dynamic storytelling, relatable themes, and unforgettable melodies.

“My new favorite musician/artist on Whidbey Island … Tami Smith … playing with Rick Vander Kam and Open Road. She plays the cello … killer clarinet … gorgeous and soulful vocals … and now the saxaphone … Rick has a ton of extra guitars so my guess is that is next. She brings creativity … passion … and spice to the stage…” — Dennis Brown (Facebook after recent performance at Bailey’s Corner).

This event is by reservation only and includes a shared appetizer board served to your table.

Please be aware that due to limited seating capacity in the Dancing Fish Barn, some patrons may be assigned to larger communal tables. Thursday Night Music @ Dancing Fish: The EVM Quartet

Dancing Fish
Back by popular demand, Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews returns to Dancing Fish Vineyards with The EVM Quartet! This will surely be a truly epic musical event as Eric has handpicked the best of the best jazz musicians the PNW has to offer for this one.
The quartet is as follows:
Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews is a multi-instrumentalist from Whidbey who recently moved to Brooklyn to further his career in music. He’s toured internationally in jazz, rock, and pop contexts, with groups such as Quinn Bachand’s Brishen, General Mojo’s, and ABBA: The Concert. His own EVM All-Stars quartet has headlined Djangofest NW numerous times. When Eric isn’t playing music, he can be found in the mountains hiking.
Ronan Delisle is a guitarist, songwriter, and producer based in Los Angeles. An improviser with spry technique and a tender, lyrical sensibility, his work blends jazz, songcraft, and experimental textures into something quietly inimitable.
Greg Feingold is the bassist that top out-of-town acts call when they need someone to come in and “nail the gig” last minute. He tours regularly with the Kareem Kandi World Orchestra, played with the International String Trio while at Berklee, and jazz greats such as Jimmy Cobb, Eric Reed, and Cyrus Chestnut when he lived in New York. He’s a professor of bass at WWU, he’s featured on the EVM All-Stars debut album, and if you didn’t like bass solos before, you will now.
An integral part of the Pacific Northwest jazz and creative music scene, drummer Evan Woodle serves as a driving force behind several musically diverse bands while maintaining a healthy reputation as a first-call freelance performer, recording artist, and private instructor. Evan also acts as one third of the team behind Seattle-based jazz label Origin Records; regularly partners with the educational nonprofit Seattle JazzED; and in 2009, co-founded the Racer Sessions, an inclusive free-improvisation jam session and forum for new works that hosted its 589th and final session in December 2024.
