Cythara VIII, A Musical Journey Across Continents and Centuries
Saturday, November 7th @ 7:30 p.m.
WICA Mainstage | $30 / $45
Andre Feriante and Troy Chapman return to WICA with an entertaining and educational exploration of stringed instruments from around the world. Experience the sounds, stories, and traditions of more than 30 instruments representing five continents and over 5,000 years of musical history. From ancient strings to modern favorites, Cythara VIII celebrates the remarkable evolution of one of the world’s most beloved instruments: the guitar. The term cythara served as an umbrella name for a wide range of stringed instruments throughout medieval and Renaissance Europe. This family included lyres and harps, as well as early long-necked instruments with pear-shaped bodies that helped shape the development of many modern stringed instruments. Through music, storytelling, and demonstrations, Andre Feriante and Troy Chapman guide audiences on a fascinating journey through cultures, traditions, and the enduring power of music to connect people across time and place.
