About the Production
WICA Theatre Productions presents Sense and Sensibility, a lively and inventive adaptation by Kate Hamill, opening a new chapter for the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts. As the first full theatre production on the newly renovated Mainstage, this staging marks both a celebration of a beloved literary classic and a milestone for the theatre and its community.
Originally published in 1811, Sense and Sensibility follows the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, as they navigate love, loss, and societal expectations. Balancing emotional restraint with passionate expression, the story remains one of Austen’s most enduring and relatable works.
Presented in the reimagined Mainstage, this production offers a fresh and intimate theatrical experience. The updated space enhances connection between performers and audience, creating new opportunities for dynamic storytelling and design.
As the inaugural production in this renewed venue, Sense and Sensibility reflects a spirit of renewal and creativity, honoring classic storytelling while looking ahead to the future of theatre at WICA.
