Experience the sounds\, stories\, and traditions of more than 30 instruments representing five continents and over 5\,000 years of musical history. From ancient strings to modern favorites\, Cythara VIII celebrates the remarkable evolution of one of the world’s most beloved instruments: the guitar. The term cythara served as an umbrella name for a wide range of stringed instruments throughout medieval and Renaissance Europe. This family included lyres and harps\, as well as early long-necked instruments with pear-shaped bodies that helped shape the development of many modern stringed instruments.
