SUMMARY:Island Shakespeare Festival
DESCRIPTION:Island Shakespeare Fest Opens its 16th Season July 18!\nThis season\, fearless women defy the status quo\, rewrite the rules\, and prove that love and selfhood are not a choice—they’re a revolution.\n“Much Ado About Nothing”By: William Shakespeare\, Directed by: Chad “Dex” Kinsman\nEvent Date(s): July 18 – Aug. 31 \nIn Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing\,” words are weapons and wit is a shield. Beatrice refuses to be anything but fiercely independent—until she finds herself caught in a battle of the heart with the equally sharp-tongued Benedick. Meanwhile\, her cousin Hero’s gentle strength is tested by a world obsessed with female purity—making a whole lot of “ado” over nothing. Shakespeare’s “Much Ado” is a sparkling comedy of deception\, honor\, and unexpected love\, where women must carve their own paths amid a society eager to define them. \n“Anima (or Her Soul)” By: Amelia Pincherle Rosselli\, Directed by: Emily Lyon\nEvent Dates: July 26 – Aug 30\nOnce again\, we partner with Expand the Canon to bring a brilliant yet lesser-known classic to our audience’s attention. The art world is rarely considered the intersection of passion and propriety. But In Amelia Roselli’s “Anima” (translated to English as “Her Soul”)\, painter Olga de Velaris finds herself at just that crossroads\, testing the limits of how much she can express. In 1890’s Rome\, she is surrounded by women who must navigate the tightrope of reputation\, desire\, and survival. “Anima” is a powerful\, rarely staged drama that lays bare the tension between self-determination and the longing for connection\, revealing that love—when truly seen—does not have to mean surrender. Step into this quirky\, disarming\, and award-winning play for an examination of who we’re really seeking. \nIsland Shakespeare Festival\, 5476 Maxwelton Road\, Langley WA\nPrice: Pay What You Will\, or reserve a seat for $36\nGet Tickets Here:\nhttps://www.ticketsource.com/island-shakespeare-festival

His artistry has earned him a place among Seattle’s top jazz talent\, where he’s shared the stage with the likes of Alex Dugdale\, Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews and a host of South Whidbey High School alumni who’ve gone on to shape the sound of jazz locally and nationwide.\nBased on Whidbey Island\, Troy Chapman can be found locally playing gypsy jazz with The Hot Club of Troy\, modern jazz guitar with The Troy Chapman Group and Baroque Lute with The Island Consort. From 2010-2016 Troy was a member of the renowned gypsy jazz group Pearl Django. He appears on three releases “System D “\, “Eleven”\, and “Time Flies”\, contributing original compositions as well. He has also been honored to play with some fabulous musicians including guitarists Bucky Pizzarelli and Martin Taylor\, legendary jazz group The Manhattan Transfer\, superb vocalists Gail Pettis and Greta Matassa and countless other brilliant musicians.\nhttp://www.troychapman.com/\nTickets are available for purchase online at:\nhttps://otthunter.orderport.net/wines/Live-Music\nOtt & Hunter Winery Tasting Room\n204 1st Street\, Langley\n(360) 221-7131 \nTwo Island Locations

SUMMARY:Thursday Night Music at Dancing Fish - Leo Moon Trio (with Brian Koch of Blitzen Trapper!)
DESCRIPTION:Join us this summer for live music by the Leo Moon Trio\, wine and appetizers! \nLeo Moon is the solo incarnation of actor\, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist\, Brian Adrian Koch. California born and Oregon raised\, Brian has been active in the Portland theater\, film & music scene since arriving in 2000.  He is a current and founding member of indie rock band Blitzen Trapper (2000 – present)\, and formerly of psychedelic folk duo Dead Lee (2017-2023).  Appearing now as the head of a cinematic psych folk trio\, his minimal and haunting tunes are stripped down paeans to the glorious and filmic moments of life; harmonica spattered psalms to the mysterious\, whirling beauty of it all. He is joined by Kate O’ Brien on violin and vocals and Fred Thompson on lap steel & guitar. The addition of Kate & Fred open the emotional landscape of Leo’s musical scenery like a key in a lock. \nLeo has most recently opened for English troubadour Wesley Stace as well as Wild Horses\, Loch Lomond & Small Paul. He’s also appeared at Shady Pines Festival in Sandy OR\, Washougal Songcraft Festival and Portland Folk Festival. He is preparing to release a full length solo album\, The Fool and well into recording his next record. \nMusic Video ‘Same Old Song‘
