SUMMARY:Island Shakespeare Festival
DESCRIPTION:Island Shakespeare Fest Opens its 16th Season July 18!\nThis season\, fearless women defy the status quo\, rewrite the rules\, and prove that love and selfhood are not a choice—they’re a revolution.\n“Much Ado About Nothing”By: William Shakespeare\, Directed by: Chad “Dex” Kinsman\nEvent Date(s): July 18 – Aug. 31 \nIn Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing\,” words are weapons and wit is a shield. Beatrice refuses to be anything but fiercely independent—until she finds herself caught in a battle of the heart with the equally sharp-tongued Benedick. Meanwhile\, her cousin Hero’s gentle strength is tested by a world obsessed with female purity—making a whole lot of “ado” over nothing. Shakespeare’s “Much Ado” is a sparkling comedy of deception\, honor\, and unexpected love\, where women must carve their own paths amid a society eager to define them. \n“Anima (or Her Soul)” By: Amelia Pincherle Rosselli\, Directed by: Emily Lyon\nEvent Dates: July 26 – Aug 30\nOnce again\, we partner with Expand the Canon to bring a brilliant yet lesser-known classic to our audience’s attention. The art world is rarely considered the intersection of passion and propriety. But In Amelia Roselli’s “Anima” (translated to English as “Her Soul”)\, painter Olga de Velaris finds herself at just that crossroads\, testing the limits of how much she can express. In 1890’s Rome\, she is surrounded by women who must navigate the tightrope of reputation\, desire\, and survival. “Anima” is a powerful\, rarely staged drama that lays bare the tension between self-determination and the longing for connection\, revealing that love—when truly seen—does not have to mean surrender. Step into this quirky\, disarming\, and award-winning play for an examination of who we’re really seeking. \nIsland Shakespeare Festival\, 5476 Maxwelton Road\, Langley WA\nPrice: Pay What You Will\, or reserve a seat for $36\nGet Tickets Here:\nhttps://www.ticketsource.com/island-shakespeare-festival

SUMMARY:Thursday Night Music at Dancing Fish - Open Road
DESCRIPTION:Open Road is a Whidbey Island band delivering a compelling mix of original songs\, rhythmic covers\, and timeless folk ballads\, all performed with remarkable artistry and depth.  Their sound blends woodwinds and electric guitar into a richly layered musical tapestry\, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of influences including folk\, blues\, rock\, and more. \nWith heartfelt lyrics that speak to today’s audiences\, they capture the spirit of the open road and the shared human journey. Whether performing upbeat rhythms or soulful ballads\, their music resonates with dynamic storytelling\, relatable themes\, and unforgettable melodies. \n“My new favorite musician/artist on Whidbey Island … Tami Smith … playing with Rick Vander Kam and Open Road. She plays the cello … killer clarinet … gorgeous and soulful vocals … and now the saxaphone … Rick has a ton of extra guitars so my guess is that is next. She brings creativity … passion … and spice to the stage…” — Dennis Brown (Facebook after recent performance at Bailey’s Corner). \nThis event is by reservation only and includes a shared appetizer board served to your table. \nPlease be aware that due to limited seating capacity in the Dancing Fish Barn\, some patrons may be assigned to larger communal tables. Alternatively\, if you have friends who are also attending this event\, please let us know via text/phone (360-632-4190) or email (info@dancingfishvineyards.com) in advance of the performance so we can seat you at the same table.
