The Jack Radsliff Trio features Jack Radsliff on guitar; Patrick Golichnik playing bass and Michael Raynor on drums\nJack Radsliff is on the short list of jazz guitarists in the Pacific Northwest. As a bandleader\, his trio featuring Patrick Golichnik and Michael Raynor\, has become a fixture at clubs throughout the region. As a collaborator\, Radsliff is a first-call for many; frequently playing in the bands of Ron Steen\, Michael Raynor\, Cyrus Nabipoor\, Galen Clark\, Christopher Brown\, Chuck Israels\, Alan Jones\, Kerry Politzer\, George Colligan\, Dan Balmer\, Idit Shner\, Kathleen Hollingsworth\, Torrey Newhart and many more: a veritable who’s who of Oregon’s jazz musicians. In addition to his steady work around the PNW\, last year afforded Jack opportunities to work as sideman to Jonathan Pinson\, Greg Ward\, Domo Branch and Charlie Brown; release his sophomore record “Barefoot” (PJCE Records) featuring Randy Porter\, Todd Sickafoose and Alan Jones; and tour the west coast extensively with Ian George\, Cyrus Nabipoor and the Jack Radsliff Trio.\nJack’s playing can be heard on more than a dozen records to date. Known for her powerful narrative quilts and dynamic storytelling\, Ringgold’s work explores themes of race\, gender\, and social justice. \nFaith Ringgold\, a pioneering American artist\, author\, and activist\, has made significant contributions to contemporary art. Born in Harlem\, New York\, she grew up amidst the cultural richness of the Harlem Renaissance. Her early work in the 1960s\, such as the American People Series\, reflected her political consciousness and the civil rights movement\, with notable pieces like American People #20: Die (1967)\, inspired by Picasso’s Guernica. \nIn the 1970s\, Ringgold began creating her famous story quilts\, combining painting\, fabric\, and narrative to tell stories of African American life. Her quilt Tar Beach (1988) is particularly well-known and was later adapted into an award-winning children’s book. These quilts often featured collaborations with her mother\, Willi Posey Jones\, a fashion designer. \nRinggold was also a dedicated educator and activist\, co-founding the advocacy group Women Students and Artists for Black Art Liberation in 1970 and fighting for the inclusion of Black artists in major art institutions. Her work has been exhibited globally and is held in prestigious collections\, including the Guggenheim and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. \nThroughout her career\, Ringgold received numerous accolades\, including the 2009 Peace Corps Award. DESCRIPTION:Online ticket sales have ended! Purchase your tickets at the Langley Chamber of Commerce! \n  \n40 Years of Murders in Langley! \nEvery February since 1984 there’s been a murder in Langley\, and every year the town invites amateur sleuths to solve the mystery. \nThis year’s Mystery Weekend will be February 22-23\, and the theme is “Murder in a Small Town.” The story reprises several characters from past mysteries and ties up some loose ends from other years\, including the possible disbanding of the 49ers men’s gambling group and the death of a popular character. A subplot involves the sale of the Geaherdelli estate (from the 2006 mystery “Death by Chocolate”) for affordable housing. \nA group of Langley citizens formed a Survivors Club to celebrate 40 years of survival of the annual murders\, and they plan a parade in town on Saturday\, February 22 at Noon to celebrate their amazing survival. \nTickets for Mystery Weekend include a comprehensive program with cast photos\, a clue map\, copy of the Langley Gazette\, and story synopsis. \nCost is $16 for adults 16-64 ($12 if age 65+\, military\, or youth under 16). Tickets and merchandise can be ordered online prior to the weekend from our website\, www.visitlangley.com. Or purchase a Langley Mystery Weekend program at the Visitor Information Center located at 208 Anthes Avenue\, Langley on February 22 or 23.
