DESCRIPTION:Meerkerk Gardens is having our First Day Hike. \nAs you walk with Naturalist Steve Layman at Meerkerk Gardens\, the sounds of the forest come alive. The trail winds through patches of vibrant wildflowers\, their colors contrasting beautifully with the deep greens of the leaves. Alongside\, ferns and moss carpet the ground\, creating a soft\, lush foundation that cushions your footsteps. \nWalks start at 1 PM at the Gatehouse and last approximately 1.5 hours. SUMMARY:Cello / Piano with Gideon Freudmann and Sheila Weidendorf @ WICA
DESCRIPTION:Cello / Piano with Gideon Freudmann and Sheila Weidendorf\nSunday\, January 5\,  2 p.m. \nCelloPiano is a new collaboration between cellist Gideon Freudmann & pianist Sheila Weidendorf. We play both original and improvisational music while exploring the possibilities of our combined musical lexicons. This musical journey is replete with sweetness\, whimsy\, joy\, pathos\, and the possibility of surprise. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our collaboration as much as we are enjoying the process! (And stay tuned for news of our forthcoming debut CelloPiano recording!)About Us: \nGideon Freudmann began studying cello at age 8 and almost immediately tried his hand at composition. His early attempts were … ambitious. As he gained a grasp of fundamentals like time and key signatures\, voicing\, and harmony\, he expanded his solo cello forays to duets\, string ensembles\, and later pieces for ensembles including guitar\, ukulele\, mandolin\, steel drum\, and various western and world instruments. He has published a catalog of his string compositions and is excited to be writing and reworking pieces for cello and piano. Gideon has toured 4 continents\, recorded 25 albums\, scored several modern films\, and performed live soundtracks for classic silent films. \nSheila Weidendorf inherited an old Cable Wellington upright grand piano at about age 6 and simply started playing it\, exploring the sounds she heard from the stereo and her rural environment. She started studying in earnest at age 9. Significant injury derailed her studies and her career\, though she did earn her B.A. in Music from the University of Minnesota School of Music. After a 20 year hiatus from playing\, Music returned a few years ago. She now performs regularly with RASA 3 4 5 (her classical ensemble)\, Trio Improviso (an improvisational ensemble)\, and many musicians from around the globe. She has only performed on 2 continents (insert wink here!) is on two recording collaborations\, and just came out with her first solo album of improvisational keyboard meditations. Her Trio Improviso is working on their first album\, likely to be released in early 2025. \nWICA Star: $45 | Standard: $30 | Youth 18 and Under: Free

SUMMARY:Friday Night Music @ Dancing Fish: Jilian Linklater
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Music at Dancing Fish: Jilian Linklater feat. The Swirlhood Band \nFriday\, January 17th  ~  5:30 – 7:30 p.m. \nJilian Linklater is back at Dancing Fish Vineyards with her stunning vocals and guitar\, this time playing alongside the Swirlhood Band. Read on to learn more about these talented musicians. \nMAKE RESERVATIONS!\nhttps://dancingfishvineyards.orderport.net/wines/Events \nJilian Linklater is joined by the Swirlhood Band. Seattle based indie/folk duo Swirlhood is the shared universe of songwriters Bethany Gray and Madeline Privott. Journey into a world that sees the common as commendable\, the ordinary as ornate. Where ripples of milky guitar and pointed melodies spill out of ancient wounds. From the Mexican border to the remote wilderness of Alaska\, these two have logged hundreds of hours exploring strange and silly\, beautiful and boring. Thanks to their lyrical fortitude\, delicate harmonies and simple choreography\, we have a glimpse into the unknown territory of Swirlhood. \nThis event is by reservation only and includes a shared appetizer board served to your table. A portion of the $25 admission fee will go to Whidbey Island Nourishes (WIN).
