If you can lie comfortably on the floor on a yoga mat with a pillow under your knees and covered in a blanket\, then you can do Yoga Nidra. \nWe’ll begin by breathing together and doing a few Vagus Nerve exercises before getting comfortable for Yogic Sleep. Bring your own mat & props to be supremely comfortable\, but there are a few at the studio to use if you don’t have any.\nThis class is donation based with a suggested donation of $15\, but $0 is required to attend. This treasured holiday tradition\, held on Saturday\, December 7 at 2 p.m. in the Coupeville High School Commons\, will feature a program of traditional carols\, timeless holiday classics and many\, many surprises. \nFeaturing an eclectic mix\, everything from Vivaldi to Disney with lots of audience participation\, the works on the program include Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “Christmas Overture”\, music from Disney’s Frozen\, A Charlie Brown Christmas plus sing-along opportunities from Handel’s Messiah\, including “Hallelujah Chorus”. \nJoining the orchestra will be special guest Tekla Cunningham\, baroque violinist and founder of the popular Whidbey Island Music Festival\, performing the “Winter” sections from Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Also performing is vocalist Deirdre Fairfax with longtime music collaborator\, Kevin Johnson\, adding a contemporary take on beloved Christmas tunes. Students from local school instrumental programs will also be joining the orchestra as part of Saratoga Orchestra’s Talent Development Program. \nIn the spirit of giving\, A Toys for Tots donation box will be on site during the concert for attendees to bring a new and unwrapped toy. Toys for Tots\, a 76-year national charitable Program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve\, provides happiness and hope to children in need during each Christmas holiday season and beyond. \nThis concert is graciously sponsored by Coupeville Festival Association\, Front Street Realty/Janet Burchfield and Hearing Health Services/Dr. Kristine Jarrell. \nTickets are $30 Adult\, $25 Seniors/Military and free for students 17 and under. DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss your chance to see Whidbey Island Dance Theatre’s 32nd annual “The Nutcracker!”\nTickets are still available\, but they’re selling fast! \nThis year’s performances will be bittersweet for all of us involved and the community that has seen “The Nutcracker” over the past 15 years. Danny Ward\, brother of founder Charlene Brown\, is retiring from the role he made famous\, Great Uncle Neville. With his bushy silver hair and wobbly cane assisted hobble\, this hard-of-hearing patriarch of the Rothchild family endeared himself as a silent favorite of audiences over the years. He brings a lovable comic relief as he conspires with the mischievous boys to torment their siblings\, flirts with the maids\, and struggles to keep up with the others in the dance. If you have loved Danny’s Great Uncle Neville\, it’s time to catch his final performances this year before he returns to being a fellow audience member.
