SUMMARY:WICA Let It Snow: Holiday Revue\, New Seasonal Ballet
DESCRIPTION:Let It Snow: by Christopher Stowell\n\n\n\nThis jazzy\, sophisticated\, and lighthearted Let it Snow: A Holiday Revue is created by WICA Board Member Christopher Stowell. \nThe seasonal array of dances are inspired by the spirit and aesthetic of mid-century classics like White Christmas and the television variety shows of the 50’s and 60’s with the glamour and brilliance only classical ballet can provide. Based on the dancer’s memories of holiday celebrations with echoes of nostalgia and joy; this supper-club like show features Richard Bower’s arrangements of “jukebox” holiday favorites with live piano by Sheila Weindendorf and vocals by Ada Faith-Feyma and John Macarro. Grab your champagne and come on in for the show because….baby it’s getting cold outside.

SUMMARY:The Nutcracker
DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss your chance to see Whidbey Island Dance Theatre’s 32nd annual “The Nutcracker!”\nTickets are still available\, but they’re selling fast! \nThis year’s performances will be bittersweet for all of us involved and the community that has seen “The Nutcracker” over the past 15 years. Danny Ward\, brother of founder Charlene Brown\, is retiring from the role he made famous\, Great Uncle Neville. With his bushy silver hair and wobbly cane assisted hobble\, this hard-of-hearing patriarch of the Rothchild family endeared himself as a silent favorite of audiences over the years. He brings a lovable comic relief as he conspires with the mischievous boys to torment their siblings\, flirts with the maids\, and struggles to keep up with the others in the dance. If you have loved Danny’s Great Uncle Neville\, it’s time to catch his final performances this year before he returns to being a fellow audience member. Catch Danny and the many talented performers of this production\, including a large cross-section of our community\, in this special production of “The Nutcracker” at South Whidbey High School’s Auditorium: \nFri. December 13\, 7 p.m. \nSat. December 14\, 2 p.m.\nSun. December 15\, 2p.m. \nFri. December 20\, 7 p.m. \nSat. December 21\, 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.\nSun. December 22\, 2 p.m. \nWhere: 5675 Maxwelton Road\, Langley \nGet Tickets:\nhttps://www.onthestage.tickets/show/whidbey-island-dance-theatre/66d71c3… \nWhidbey Island Dance Theatre

SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra @ Maven Alchemy December 22
DESCRIPTION:Nature’s energy is telling us it’s time to turn inward\, be still\, go deep\, and reflect on life\, but the world is telling us it’s time to socialize & celebrate religious holidays & usher in the new year. This paradox can be a lot for so many people. Take time for yourself in the season of inward energy\, gather in community to co-regulate\, and learn a self-care ritual to carry you through the Wintering months.\nWe’ll gather at the Whidbey Island Yoga space in Langley’s Porter Building. I’ll share information about Winter & the Water element from the Chinese Medicine perspective and an Esoteric Acupressure pattern to support you through the Winter season. Then\, you’ll create an intention for 2025 and plant its seed during the Yoga Nidra. We’ll apply a provided essential oil to the points before getting comfy for the Yoga Nidra.\nLimited to the first 10 registrants\, so register early. $30 includes a season specific essential oil sample and self-care ritual to take home & use for the Winter.\nNo experience necessary. If you can lie comfortably on the floor on a yoga mat with a pillow under your knees and covered in a blanket\, then you can do Yoga Nidra. Bring your own mat and props to be supremely comfortable\, but there are a few at the studio to use if you don’t have any.\nJoin me Sunday\, 12/22\, 3:30-5 p.m. at 222 Anthes Ave\, Langley in the Whidbey Island Yoga space.
