SUMMARY:Printmaking Camp at WIWS – Grades 3 to 8
DESCRIPTION:Printmaking Camp at WIWS – Grades 3 to 8 \nFall Printmaking Camp with Señor Alan for Children in Grades 3rd through 8th \nNovember 24th\, 25th & 26th  ~  8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. \nJoin our Spanish teacher\, Alan\, who is also an accomplished printmaker from Venezuela\, for a creative and cultural fall camp! Campers will explore a variety of methods of printmaking and engage with some of the methods that are most accessible in the classroom. \nPrintmaking principles such as types of methods\, editioning/signing work (or not)\, individual expression within a shared project and a print exchange will fill our camp with plenty of opportunities to explore and share. \nAlan will provide examples of different printmaking methods using his personal work. Campers must be respectful of tools and materials as some can be sharp and others messy. DESCRIPTION:November Seasonal Camp for 3 to 8 Year-Olds \nNovember 24th\, 25th & 26th  ~  8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. \nAs the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp\, our November Seasonal Camp offers the children a gentle\, nurturing rhythm to carry them through the colder months. \nEach morning will begin with a refreshing nature walk to notice the late autumn changes\, followed by circle time with seasonal songs and poems that celebrate falling leaves\, migrating geese\, and the quiet turning inward of nature. \nIndoors\, children will share a warm\, nourishing snack\, enjoy a cozy story\, and join in a simple seasonal craft\, such as making dried orange or leaf garlands. Parents will be asked to pack a lunch with “strong food” (protein). SUMMARY:Parenting Beyond Power Interactive Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Snacks will be provided\, books will be available for purchase. Attendance free\, donations appreciated. There will be not one\, but three books raffled off! \nParenting is hard. But when we replace conventional parent-child power dynamics with collaboration\, family life gets easier today—and we create a better world for all of us in the future. \nWhen we see our children stalling\, resisting\, having tantrums\, using mean words\, and hitting\, we want to just make it stop. But conventional discipline methods like time-outs\, countdowns\, and “consequences” teach children that it’s OK for more powerful people to control others—a lesson they take out into the world. This is how we learned White supremacy\, patriarchy\, and capitalism from our parents—and we will replicate this with our children unless we make a different choice. \nResearch-based parenting educator Jen Lumanlan offers a simple yet revolutionary framework for rethinking our relationships with children. This new approach helps us to look beneath challenging behaviors to find and meet children’s needs\, and ours too—perhaps for the first time in our lives. It involves empathetic listening\, understanding feelings and underlying needs\, and problem-solving with our children to find solutions to conflicts that work for everyone. \nFamily life becomes radically easier in the short term because behavior problems tend to melt away. In the long term\, we’ll raise children who confidently advocate for themselves and treat others with profound respect. \nIncludes sample scripts\, flowcharts\, and resources to help parents learn and implement this new approach. \n
