SUMMARY:The Whidbey Island Music Festival presents Dutch Masters
DESCRIPTION:Rembrandt\, Vermeer\, Steen – painters who could capture light and life like no other – are recognized as giants in the world of art. Yet the music behind the artwork has largely overlooked for the past few centuries. Get ready to discover hidden gems of the Dutch Baroque\, including works by Sweelinck\, one of the most influential organists and teachers of his age\, the brilliance of viola da gamba virtuoso Carel Hacquart and the richness of Johann Adam Reincken’s counterpoint\, admired by no less than J. S. Bach himself. Concert is at St. Augustine’s In-the-Woods. \n\n\nAs the music unfolds\, stunning images of Dutch Master paintings will be projected onto a large screen\, creating a truly immersive experience. This multimedia experience is a feast for the eyes and ears as we take in the visual splendor of the Dutch Master painters. This is a unique opportunity to explore the hidden gems of the Dutch Baroque music. Whidbey Island has many residents descended from early Dutch settlers. By combining the power of music and visual art\, we hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for this rich cultural heritage as well as celebrate the Dutch roots of so many Whidbey Islanders. \nARTISTS\nTekla Cunningham\, baroque violin\nManami Mizumoto\, baroque violin\nRyan Farris\, viola da gamba\nHenry Lebedinsky\, keyboards
