Art & Culture Center of Whidbey Island

Lady Washington, the official tall ship of Washington State, will visit Langley and offer vessel tours at the dock and adventure sales in the afternoon.  The Ship arrives September 18, and will conduct tours and sails September 20-22.

The Lady Washington is a full-scale replica of the original.  In 1787, after the Revolutionary War, the original Lady Washington was given a major refit to prepare for an unprecedented trading voyage around Cape Horn.  In 1788 she became the first American vessel to make landfall on the west coast of North America.  She was the first American ship to visit Honolulu and Japan, opening the black pearl and sandalwood trade between Hawaii and Asia.
