At the center of New Works June is the West Coast Premiere of A Room in the Castle, the newest play by Lauren Gunderson—acclaimed playwright of The Revolutionists and JUSTICE. Directed by Rose Woods and presented in collaboration with The Whidbey Institute, this powerful new work reimagines the stories of the overlooked and ill-fated women of Hamlet. Seeking refuge from a crumbling court and an unraveling prince, they carve out a space of their own to sing, laugh, argue, and imagine new futures. Is their fate already written—or can they rewrite it?
